My daughter started Blossompatch when she was 2years old.
She was diagnosed with autism at that time too. As a mother, you worry about everything especially when you have a child with special needs. we didn’t want to take her to the nursery at first. because we were scared and worried. This was all overwhelming as our child needed a lot of support as she was non-verbal at the time. We informed the nursery about my daughter’s diagnosis and Genny reassured us, that our daughter will be supported in her development our minds were set at ease.
Genny set assessment meeting and review meetings with our daughter’s special health visitor, Martina and myself as a team, we managed to ensure she met all her targets. The nursery normally should get funding to support a child with Special needs, unfortunately for our daughter, this was delayed, Genny still managed to support her. I just couldn’t thank her and her team enough for their support, they treated her as their own child.
Our daughter has sensory problems with taste. And I worried she wouldn’t eat her lunch. However, her key-worker Husna made sure, to give her time and encourage her to use fork and spoon. Husna would report back to me if she enjoys some food more than others. These daily updates were very helpful and I didn’t worry so much as I knew someone was looking out for her. Both Husna and Martina help to potty train our daughter. Our daughter had a hard time understanding and communication, her key-workers used picture cards for toilet training also gave the same card to me so I can use at home to continue the toilet training. Now she goes to the toilet by herself and she’s very confident. Social skills and communication were and still is a big challenge for our daughter. Day by day with the help of her team in Blossom Patch we overcome most of these challenges. She is now able to interact with other children, she’s able to ask and Express her needs. She learnt her alphabet and numbers and colours, Identifying objects and animals.
So you see, if I kept her home when she was diagnosed, she wouldn’t have been able to achieve all of these. She is now ready for reception. And communicating.! thanks to the support she has received.
If you are a parent like me who doesn’t want to take their child to A special needs school but also want to get all the support for your child, Blossom Patch is the place for you. It’s a mix of both, mainstream, private and SEND. We didn’t want our child to go to a mainstream nursery because there are too many children in one class. And we didn’t want her to go to completely special-needs nursery. This nursery is a perfect mix of both worlds and the team behind it are incredible. And resources are put in place to help your every need. When she turned 3years old, we applied for EHCP for primary school. There were long and several delays from the councils’ side. However, Genny and Martina kept communicating and pushing for her EHCP. Thanks to their help and all the paperwork that they completed on behalf of my daughter, she has now been accepted for assessment.
We felt very happy and comfortable leaving our daughter in their care. She has so much fun playing indoor activities and outdoor play. Lots of music Instruments, toys and pretend cooking Arts and crafts. And outdoor sandpit, swings and slides. Etc
Thank you so much to everyone who was involved in our daughter’s development and thank you for making every day at Nursery memorable.! We will miss you loads.
